Have you ever had a rotten day? I was caught in one recently. A close friendship was shaken to pieces and I found myself clutching door frames in the aftershock. I awoke this morning hurting for those involved and saddened by the damage that occurs even among fellow Christ-followers. Then God directed my attention to Lamentations 3: 22-23 which says, “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (NIV)

Spring has sprung early in Texas this year. Birds trill sweet melodies and blossoms burst forth in splendor. Death and winter yield as life begins again. Each day brings a chance to start anew. No matter how difficult and rotten yesterday was, it is like winter which has passed. Today we begin again. Why? Because God, in his love and compassion, gives a fresh start. Each day breathes hope—to you, to me, to hurting friends, and even to enemies. Will you extend a fresh start to someone? What will you do with your spring today? Hope is rising.
