Cross Training

My kids love movie trailers. They constantly check the internet for upcoming films and previews. Since Easter is fresh on our minds, I want you to consider Easter a preview of coming attractions. Look up John 11: 21-26. Lazarus has died and this is part of the conversation between his sister Martha and Jesus.

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

“I am the resurrection and the life.” This was Jesus’ claim. “He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.” We view this drama on Good Friday when Jesus died on the cross and gave His spirit up to His Father. Physical death comes to everyone, but for those who know Christ, it is not the end. Sunday is coming.

“Whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” For those who have a relationship with Jesus, the spiritual life continues. This scene unfolds Easter morning. Resurrected, Jesus lives and has a new body, too, a preview of coming attractions for us. How will your movie play out?
